ReStory 🛠️💭 - My first impressions after the playtest
2025-12-17
First things first: ReStory is not a finished game yet. This was a playtest, so a lot can still change or improve. Keeping that in mind, my first impressions are actually very positive.
I really love the core idea of the game.
You run a small repair booth where you fix people’s electronics, while they share pieces of their personal stories. It creates a very calm, cozy atmosphere. You feel like a quiet listener, working with your hands while life unfolds around you.
The character art style is soft and warm, and it fits the overall vibe perfectly.
You can already tell that customization will be a big part of the game. In the playtest, customization was limited to small decorations, but I strongly feel that the full version will expand this a lot. And I’m excited about that.
The device disassembly mechanics were genuinely fun.
As someone who enjoys tinkering with electronics, I can see that some processes are simplified, but that actually works in the game’s favor. It keeps the experience satisfying instead of overly technical or exhausting.
The soundtrack deserves a mention too. - Relaxing lofi tracks that fit perfectly with the chill, focused gameplay.
The only thing that didn’t fully click for me during the playtest was the repetition of devices after unlocking all certificates. At that point, the gameplay started to feel a bit grindy, which slightly broke the cozy flow for me.
Will I play the full release?
Absolutely. I’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.
