Welcome back to another interview. This time, I had the chance to chat with Tornado Allie, a creator who has been storm chasing for years and now combines her passion for extreme weather with AI storytelling and building a unique community around her project.

We talked about tornadoes, storm chasing, storytelling, collaboration among creators, and even a mysterious phenomenon known as “Serial Dating.”

I really love the topic of tornado chasers, and I think our audience should get to know you and your hobby better!

I’d like to start with something light to introduce the topic to our audience ^^

Do you remember the exact moment you first thought:

"I want to become a storm chaser"?

What pulled you so strongly toward extreme weather?

I had just left the volunteer fire department and was watching a documentary about a guy

who was creating a video of tornados and I absolutely fell in love also funny enough I was

terrified of lightning as a child and tornados too!

Wow! That's so cool!

That's really noble! To devote your time and health to volunteering with the fire department and helping those in need!

It's really heartening that people still want to volunteer!

As for fear: It’s okay, I used to be afraid of the dark, but now I can’t imagine sleeping with the light on or the blinds open in the bedroom!

So I totally get the whole “overcoming your fears” thing 😉

Okay! I'm getting off topic again 😅

Next question:

What fascinates you more about storms:

their beauty or the adrenaline?

The beauty for sure.

Don’t get me wrong I love the adrenaline but when you see that spinning, wild supercell, you can’t help but be in awe of what nature of what God has created.

I completely agree with you on that!

I remember that whenever I visited the countryside, I always loved that moment when I saw storm clouds gathering, and I’d sit there in an empty clearing and wait for the storm to roll in!

What a magnificent and majestic sight!

Oh yeah! I know exactly what you mean!

It's that wonderful moment called “the calm before the storm,” and there's something magical about it!

It’s an indescribable feeling, but it’s wonderful!

Allie, do you think our audience will think that “they’re crazy” after this interview? 😅

Everyone is a little “crazy” in their own way.

The key is not to let yourself get swallowed up by routine and to have your own little "crazy" thing! 😊

Getting back to “being crazy”:

Before creating Tornado Allie, were you already interested in meteorology, or did

everything begin more from a fascination with storms themselves?

Yes I was involved in storm chasing well before creating Tornado Allie as a storm chaser and a trained storm spotters have been involved in extreme weather for 19 years

Holy cow! That's such a long time!

So, it took you 19 years to realize that this might actually be more than just a hobby or had you thought about it before?

Oh, from the very beginning, it was an opportunity to experience things that most people will never get to experience.

Unfortunately, I’ve never done it full-time, but I really value those experiences.

And would you like to do this full-time?

Most definetly!

That’s the answer I was expecting 🤣

Was there ever a moment when you thought, “This is getting too dangerous”?

You know, to the point where your “definitely” turned into "screw that, i like life"?

Being a former volunteer firefighter I have a little different idea of danger.

However seeing people’s homes destroyed knowing if they happen to survive they loose everything that is

something you absolutely never forget

I see.

The Perspective changes completely when you experience real tragedies...

Things have gotten a little gloomy.

Your posts feel more like an ongoing series than typical Instagram content.

Was that storytelling approach intentional from the beginning?

Yes prior to this I made kind of a waifu account but there was a creator I really looked up to @the_silent_midnight.

He created more of a story account o said that’s what I want to do so I created Allie

Oh yes, inspiration can come from the most unexpected places!

Speaking of inspiration:

How much of the “Tornado Allie” story do you plan out in advance, and how much happens spontaneously?

About 90% of it depends on the weather.

The tornadoes I post actually occur in the locations I show.

I get my data from real radar feeds and from a YouTuber who covers extreme weather, known as Max Velocity.

Wow! That's the kind of attention to detail I love!

That's what really makes your content stand out!

You have to stand out somehow these days 😉

These days, it’s hard to find a niche where you'll actually "stand out" but it seems like you've managed to do just that 😊

Especially when you look at the number of your followers!

What inspired you to build an entire crew around Allie:

Sparky, Tianna, Ari, and the others?

A real chaser never chases alone.

They always have a team usually it consists of a meteorologist a driver and someone who handles photography.

I wanted Allie to be as real as possible.

Ari became a big part because she was the first collab on the account.

I truly believe in collabs but more on that later.

I remember your beginning!

I really loved the idea!

It’s unique and a breath of fresh air among all the other "Waifu" accounts!

I remember writing to you to tell you that I liked your content, and that’s when we did a collab ^^

About your content:

Do you see “Tornado Allie” more as an influencer, a fictional character, or something in between?

Because, you know, I personally didn’t know anything about storm chasing, but thanks to your posts I’ve learned a few things, so you do have some kind of “influence” on people 😊

I think Allie brings people who normally wouldn’t care about storm chasing into the mix and brings awareness to the dangers that they pose.

That’s what it all about so i think that you can call her an influencer.

To me, that’s the very definition of an “influencer” and you fit that vibe perfectly 😊

Your content has a very cinematic feeling.

Are there any movies, games, or shows that inspire your style?

Certainly the National Geographic documentary "Tornado Alley", "The Twister" movies but mainly influenced by YouTube storm chasers.

My favorites being Tornado Paigeyy, Storm Runner Media and Tornado TRX.

AAAAA! Now I get what your instagram name is a reference to!

"Tornado Alley" > "Tornado Allie"!

And there you have it! A major lore drop, dear viewers!

I’ve never heard of that show on National Geographic!

But after a recommendation like that, I’m actually tempted to watch an episode or two about tornadoes!

We don’t get that many tornadoes in Poland, so i hope i get at least a little bit “sucked in” to the topic and somehow i’d feel like a “storm chaser” 🤣

Speaking of “getting into character”:

I get the feeling that weather itself is almost a “character” in your content.

Was that intentional?

I want the storms to be as much, if not more, important than the crew.

They are the main character really.

In that case, you're doing great, because your stories show that tornadoes and other weather conditions are almost like separate entities!

They practically drive the story!

Ah! I just love content like this, with so many details! ^^

All right, all right! I'm only talking about your content.

What about the emotions?

What does storm chasing actually feel like mentally in the moment?

More excitement or more stress?

I know you have a different definition of “danger,” but still, it stirs up some emotions, doesn't it?

Imagine being a child waiting for Christmas then all of a sudden Christmas appears and

everything they have ever desired was right there under the tree.

But at the same time, you are scared as hell and in awe of this monster that is right there, moving in front of you and at any moment, it could turn and change its path and get you.

Sooooooo......

Excitement mixed with fear?

It’s more of a mix of “excitement and stress,” that you mentioned but I get that some people are afraid of the “monster” that is Santa Claus, so your description fits too 😋

When I was little, I was scared of Santa!

A stranger with a beard comes to your house and gives you a sly smile!

Who wouldn't be scared? 🤣

Which chase has been the scariest for you so far?

(Since we're on the topic of fear now ^^)

Well, if you insist 😝

The first one is always the scariest because you have no idea, how big and powerful these

beasts are until you see one in person.

But any tornado that directly impacts a town gives you a feeling in your gut that is unexplainable.

Especially when an unwarned tornado touches down, knowing those people had zero warning, now this monster is tearing

everything apart.

Dang...

I just pictured those poor people affected by the tornadoes, losing everything overnight...

It's really sad and depressing...

Are there any chases where you only realize afterward, “Damn, that was really dangerous”?

Every. Single. One.

I’m not surprised at all…

How do you emotionally deal with situations where you witness destruction or tragedy after a tornado?

I know for a fact that i would just sit and cry…

That is the hardest part. You have to think of, how a police officer or paramedic does.

It is the same for us.

And since we’re on the subject of tough topics, what would you say is the hardest part of storm chasing, the part that people usually don’t see?

The search and rescue aspect. Everyone sees the aspect of "oh we got pictures of this tornado" or "video of that one".

No one sees, that every storm chaser stops after the tornado has impacted a community or a home looking for survivors

I have to admit, I hadn't even thought of that myself.

Indeed, storm chasers are often the first ones on the scene and get to see the damage “right after” it happens.

You know, since we're already there, we might as well help out.

And I totally respect that.

And after so many chases, do you still get that same adrenaline rush when the radar

starts to "lighting up"?

Absolutely, because every chase is different.

No two tornados are the same

It’s great that you’re still hooked, even despite, let’s be honest, the terrible things you can experience during chases.

It's kind of...

How do I explain this to you...

Like a great game.

The kind that hooks you for years and has you thinking about it all day long, like, “Dang, I'd love to play that right now.”

That's exactly how I feel about “chasing tornadoes” 😊

Hahahaha, 'cause what, I only get the gaming references? 🤣

You're right! I understood it perfectly 😅

I know how to choose the right words for the person I’m talking to 😜

Our audience will probably understand this analogy well and relate to it too ^^

Now I’d like to move on to another part of our interview.

A little bit about creativity, technology, and things like that 😋

One thing that really caught my attention is the way you build the Tornado Allie brand through shirts for other AI creators and their OCs.

How did that idea come about?

This came from my background in sales.

The idea is twofold.

First: brand recognition.

Think of this: when you go to buy a soda, why do you buy Coca Cola and not some off brand?

It’s because everywhere you go you see adds for coke.

Second: people tend to buy what others

recommend.

For example: If you told a girlfriend "I need a new concealer" and she said "oooh I

love brand xyz", you are more likely to buy it over of the salesman recomendation.

It is brand recognition + grass roots advertising.
It’s the perfect storm (pun intended).

Ah! Buzz marketing!

The best way to sell anything, ever!

The old ways are the best ^^

And what kind of reactions did you get when you started sending them to the creators?

It has been well received by everyone!

Now, I have people who dm me "hey, when is the next shirt gonna be released?!".

So marketing works ^^

Damn right it works! 😝

It’s so cool to see more people in the community who are just having fun and supporting you by wearing your T-shirts 🥰

Every time I see someone else wearing your T-shirt in my Instagram feed, it warms my heart 🥰

Do you think AI creators should focus more on collaboration instead of competition?

Absolutely 100%!

Look, the truth is with collaboration you can reach people you might never reach on your own, because their followers will not only see it, but they will like the post then you can follow them, most will follow you back.

Every collab will add to your followers count.

I agree!

Although I think these kinds of collaborative posts require a lot more attention than regular posts.

When I do a collab, I really put a lot of effort into making sure everything turns out as well as possible.

And yet, things turn out the way they turn out😜

Sometimes it’s worth to ignore certain things 😉

We know how it goes with AI.

You type one thing, but something else comes out 🥲

Speaking of creators!

In your opinion, what actually builds real brand recognition today in the AI

influencer space?

I still think it’s old fashioned connection.

In my case, if I reach out to a new person, let’s say, they have 100 followers, you start shouting them out in your stories, you offer a collab, they will be loyal to you because when they were "nobody" you helped them.

Oh, yes!

Just like you, I've always been focused on building relationships with people, too ^^

Not only can you help a lot of creators this way, but you also build wonderful friendships 🥰

Was there a moment when you realized:

"Wow… Tornado Allie is actually becoming recognizable"?

When I went from 500 followers to 1500 in 3 days

That’s definitely impressive!

And do you remember when you wrote to me saying, “You must be magical! After our first collab, I gained 120 followers”?

Look at that now! You have over 3,600 followers while we’re writing this interview!

It just goes to show that your content is engaging and people want more ^^

Definitely community.

I would rather help some one grow their own page versus my page getting to 100k followers and not impact others on the way up.

You know what, since we're on the topic of helping others, why don't you help other creators by sharing what the process of creating posts for “Tornado Allie” is like?

You know, from the initial idea to the final upload?

Sure thing!

You see, every day I monitor the radar and watch Max Velocity’s livestreams.

When a tornado is confirmed, I note the location and start creating.

Many details come from real storm chasers, who show, for example, a plane hit by a tornado or an overturned truck.

Then the image generator recreates it with slight modifications.

Later, you just need to add a description of what happened and a few details about the weather, and the post is ready 😊

I’d also like to add that passion is also a key ingredient in this mix!

You can see that in your work, and that’s the "golden mean" that keeps the audience coming back for more ^^

Yes!

Without passion, you’ll burn out very quickly.

And it has to be fun, too 😉

AI won't be "having fun" for you ^^

Actually, since we’re on the subject:

AI-generated content continues to spark a lot of controversy online.

Have you personally faced any hate or criticism for creating AI content?

Haters are more motivation.

People are afraid of what they don’t understand.

And what do you think people misunderstand the most about AI creators and AI

storytelling?

The fact that even though we don’t physically put a pen or a paintbrush to paper or canvas

we work just as hard as other artists.

Plus we then have to come up with a story that makes sense with our art.

And do these negative reactions towards AI ever affect your motivation or creativity?

Because it really annoys me. I’m judged solely on the fact that I use AI, not on the content I'm making.

Listen, Miyu, if people are hating on it, that means we’re doing something right.

There's definitely something to that!

That's a very wise observation!

But you know, some people say that AI-generated content is “soulless” and “bland,” and some of it really is—but not all of it!

I don't like that kind of blind generalization. Just because someone creates “Italian brainrot,” the whole internet starts screaming that it's “trash,” and we all get lumped together in the same category.

What would you say to someone who thinks that stories created by AI can’t be emotional or authentic?

I would say: follow Tornado Allie, lol 🤣

Do you think AI influencers and virtual creators that use AI will become a normal part of

internet culture in the future?

I think a lot of us already are and it will continue to grow.

All in all, there’s been a lot of talk lately about “AI influencers”, in fact, there are even companies that sell pre-made “influencers” designed to make money for you, but in my opinion, there’s a lack of a personalized approach, and the only one getting rich is the person selling these “influencers” to others.

Oh? I had no idea people were already making a business out of this.

It sounds like something marketed to “lazy” people by promising them the moon.

You know it!

I feel the same way about that! ^^

Creating content with AI still requires some effort. Whether it's fine-tuning a prompt or crafting a story.

What do you think? Which is harder?

Creating graphics or stories?

For me definitely creating the story.

And considering that AI offers creators endless possibilities, does that overwhelm you more, or not necessarily?

No, it doesn’t become overwhelming.

I love that I can create anything my mind can dream up.

I know that feeling ^^

And how long does it take you to create a larger story arc or a story about chasing a tornado?

Sometimes it takes me hours, mostly because of weather research.

Gathering information is always a long process, but thanks to that, my content is based on real events.

And do you have a favorite post or storyline you’ve created so far?

It’s funny, but I think it was the one with Ari’s date, or „no date”, where i accidentally flashed my backside.

I thought it was hilarious.

I thought it was going to be some kind of storm chase, but I didn’t expect that kind of anwser 🤣

That means I’m still full of surprises, huh? 😊

If you could experience your "perfect storm chase day", what would it be like?

Easy!

Wake up about 7am, get into the perfect spot, catch 3 - 4 tornados, all in fields that never

threaten a structure.

Oh my, I'm daydreaming!

Gosh, I'd love to experience something like that myself! Just once in my life!

I think I'll add that to my bucket list!

You know, I can’t do this in real life (because you know, distance), but we could work something out as a collaboration 😉

I want to feel like I'm in a video game for just once, where I'm on a side quest!

Definitely some more upbeat red dirt music.

What about the setting?

Is there a place in the U.S. where you dream of catching a tornado, and that could serve as the game's setting?

Eastern New Mexico.

Tornadoes are rare there but they can happen.

Hmm, canyons and wilderness, huh?

That’s a good setting for tornado hunting.

Although I get the feeling it would be a bit boring in a game due to the lack of variety, but in real life (as you mentioned) it’s the safest option ^^

I think that if you added in equipment theft and a competition to see who can be “first” at the tornado, the wildernesses would be the perfect setting 😋

It’s just a matter of creating the right mechanics.

Alright! If I ever start making a game like that, I’ll let you know, you’ve got some great ideas! ^^

content but is afraid nobody will care about it?

Just jump in and get started.

I find ChatGPT is easier for beginners to learn. Pick a subject that you have a passion for so it doesn’t begin to feel like work!

I totally agree!

ChatGPT is the perfect example of “easy to learn, hard to master” because you can really use it to create great content!

All you need is a good idea and the will to do it.

The rest will follow if you stay consistent 😊
