Welcome to this new format I’ve been working on for a while now. I plan to add audio versions of the interviews as well, but that’s a project for a little later ^^

In this series, I’ll be interviewing creators whose work I truly admire and whose art I want to share with a wider audience.
Today, I’d like to introduce you to Betta - an artist who creates incredibly emotional music and tells the beautiful story of “The Rising Star.”

Hi Betta, I’m so glad to have you here 💜
Hey! I’m glad to be here!
Without further ado, I’d like to ask you the first question:
You create as BettahAI – but do you feel more like the creator, or the character itself?
At the beginning, BettahAI was definitely just a character to me - something separate that I had to manage, almost like another person.
I was myself, and Betta was… Betta.
But over time, she started to grow stronger, by taking on my traits - especially the best ones.
Now, we’re no longer separate. We’ve become the same thing, deeply connected.
BettahAI is truly a part of me.
She also gives me a space to express myself creatively, a space where I can be fully free.
That’s so beautiful! It’s clear that this whole project means a lot to you!
Now for something completely different:
If BettahAI existed in the real world, what would her life be like off-stage?
Oh! That I highly recommend it! I’ve been following the series from the very beginning (and I’m even part of it). A diary in the form of a story is a great idea!
OK! Let's move on! Next question:
Your content is fully generated by AI - do you ever feel the need to step in manually and adjust things?
Absolutely, yes. Every piece I create with AI eventually requires manual intervention.
So it’s not just AI work - it’s a true 50/50 process.
And honestly, that’s what makes it so rewarding.
I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with this!
I often have to make adjustments in graphic software because the AI either forgets something, messes it up, or something like that!
Well, corrections are a must ^^
Now i'm curious:
What’s harder: generating something that sounds good, or something that feels real?
Betta always creates from the heart.
More than sounding good, it has to feel true - like it’s coming from something deep inside.
Because music is about singing with your soul.
You put that so beautifully! I couldn’t have said it better myself!
Actually, I have another question, given what you said.
Does AI give you more creative freedom, or does it introduce new limitations?
AI is just a tool. Seeing it as a limitation feels naive to me.
If you’re already creative, it doesn’t limit you - it removes boundaries.
That’s a very interesting perspective, and I completely agree with it!
Let’s move on to the next question:
Your music feels very emotional - where does that “soul” come from?
The soul doesn’t come from AI - it comes from me.
I rewrite lyrics in Italian first, then adapt them into Japanese with help from native speakers.
It’s not easy, but the message always comes through.
Do you start with a feeling, or does the emotion come from AI?
I never ask AI to create things randomly.
The emotion always starts from me.
I understand!
With that in mind, has AI ever created anything that truly moved you?
Honestly? Almost everything I create surprises me.
Because I put a lot of heart into it.
I know exactly what you mean!
I often find myself in the same situation: I have an idea in my head, I refine the prompt, and the final result gives me exactly what I expected—but sometimes it inspires me to do something completely different!
Tell me please:
How important is your relationship with your audience?
Very important.
I want people to love the project, not just me.
The connection matters more than recognition.
I totally agree with that statement too!
Empty numbers mean less than a small group of people who actually support you and like what you do!
Actually, I was going to ask, “Audience or community?” but I assume the answer will be “community”😉
Yes! Absolutely!
But it’s more than just a community. It’s a family.
And I’m really proud of that.
That's what I thought! 😄
Actually, a question occurred to me:
How important is the illusion that BettahAI is "real"?
Very important.
That illusion keeps her alive - like virtual idols or VTubers.
What about music?
Should people always know when music is AI-made?
Absolutely!
Transparency is important.
But people should still listen without judging just from the label.
Staying on the topic:
Do you think AI artists will replace humans?
No.
AI exists because of humans - and it always be like that.
And where would you draw the line between creativity and generating stuff?
Nowhere.
Art is infinite.
It doesn’t matter how you express yourself. AI is a tool like Photoshop or FL Studio, except that the barrier to entry is much lower, which makes it accessible to everyone.
What about inspiration? Where do you get it from?
From specific artists, or just the internet in general?
Both.
But I never copy - I transform inspiration into something new.
And if you had to answer the question “What is BettahAI?” in one sentence, how would you answer?
A digital reality that sings, with a vast world behind her story.
That’s a really nice way of putting it! I like it!
Speaking of your work, I’d also like to know:
You’re from Italy, but you create in Japanese - why?
Is it a passion or a creative choice?
Both.
It just felt right.
It all started with anime - Dragon Ball, Ghibli…
And it just naturally evolved over time.
This is a project I’d like to see embraced globally. We live in an age where language is no longer the barrier it once was.
I also try to approach this with respect. I’m learning about and trying to understand Japanese culture.
I also wouldn't want my project to be perceived as “cultural appropriation.”
The whole thing is more of a connection with another culture than a taking of it.
And what has been the general reaction to your work?
Is there anything that stands out above all the other feedback?
Oh, these are very diverse.
But one message from someone whose depression my music helped ease meant the most to me.
It’s wonderful that when something we do helps someone through difficult times!
I think that in itself is very meaningful and encouraging for the creator!
