Arc Raiders - #OneMoreRound syndrome
2026-01-07
Let’s start with the basics..
Arc Raiders is an extraction shooter, a genre where you enter a map, complete objectives, gather loot, and try to extract safely.
Death means losing your gear, so tension is always present.
This is not a pure PvP shooter. It is about decision making, risk management, and knowing when to leave.
I’ll be honest.
I had no prior experience with extraction shooters.
I received a free key for Arc Raiders and decided to give it a chance.
No big expectations, just curiosity. And it didn’t take long before I got hooked.
First impressions and game feel
One of the biggest positives is optimization.
The game runs surprisingly well even on my aging PC. There are occasional small stutters, but nothing that ruins the experience.
That alone deserves praise.
The game feel is excellent.
Movement feels smooth and responsive, and gunplay is satisfying. Shooting feels grounded and consistent, not floaty or awkward.
How the gameplay actually feels
Dying in Arc Raiders hurts.
At least at first. Early on, every mistake feels expensive. But once you develop your workshop and gather enough resources, you become partially self sufficient, which changes everything.
I started playing a few days after launch, when spawn killing was a real issue.
Thankfully, that has mostly settled down.
Across roughly 36 hours of gameplay, I only had one PvP encounter, and it was initiated by the other player. Most people seem focused on their own objectives, and I really appreciate that.
World design, robots, and sound
The map spaces are large and impressive.
But the real stars are the robots. Their size, design, and behavior are intimidating.
The sound design is incredible. Walking through a building while a Harvester or another massive machine passes nearby is genuinely terrifying.
You feel the weight and danger through sound alone.
One feature I absolutely love is how the game handles defeat by robots.
When robots knock you down, they do not finish you off. You can crawl to an elevator and escape to safety.
This has saved me countless times and prevented me from losing valuable resources.
It is a small design choice that makes a huge difference.
Do I recommend it?
Absolutely.
Arc Raiders is a fantastic game, even for players new to the genre.
And yes, it has that classic “just one more run” feeling.
I kept telling myself I was done, only to notice an event mission and think: “It’s just 10 minutes”.
Three hours later, I was still playing.
If you do not own the game yet, there is currently a promotion on Instant-Gaming.
Buying the game through my link supports me directly, and I would truly appreciate it. It helps keep the collaboration with Instant-Gaming alive. 💜
